How Did You Meet?
Our first encounter unfolded on Hinge, a dating app, precisely three and a half years ago (January 2020). Our initial exchange on the app was rather brief, as we swiftly decided to meet for a drink. This meeting transpired on a chilly January evening, a night when inertia almost kept me from venturing out, despite the meeting place being very close to my home. Similarly, Dave contemplated forgoing the meeting due to prior commitments, namely a parents' evening (he is a teacher). In hindsight, we are profoundly grateful that both of us mustered the motivation to attend. The instant we met, a spark ignited, and it was abundantly clear that we were embarking on something extraordinary.
Fast forward to July 2021, against the breath-taking backdrop of the Lake District, Dave orchestrated a proposal that would be utterly unforgettable. During a serene walk amidst the picturesque landscapes, Dave orchestrated a beautiful surprise. As I posed for a photo, gazing at the mesmerizing view, I turned around to find him on one knee, ready to embark on a lifetime of love and togetherness.
What made you choose your venue?
My lifelong dream has been to exchange vows in the serene embrace of a rustic barn, close to the place I fondly call home. The vision of our wedding day effortlessly crystallized, and it became evident that White Dove Barns was the perfect canvas for the picturesque nuptials we had always imagined.
Do you have a theme or inspiration in your wedding?
Our chosen colour palette elegantly combines pristine whites and elegant sage greens, and we've infused our celebration with a personal touch through a few thoughtfully crafted do-it-yourself elements. It was very centred around family and connection. With Dave's sister singing an incredible ballad during the signing of the marriage contract and my (Laura's) siblings reading an incredibly personal poem about them, written just for them. Live music featured heavily in the day, which really added an incredible atmosphere.
Now that you're not far from getting married, what tips or advice would you give to other couples who are about to embark on the wedding planning journey?
Try and enjoy it as must as possible even though it can be stressful at times.
